3 Simple Tips to Fix Your Timing at the Plate ⏱️
Oct 19, 2025
If your kid’s always just a little late at the plate, it’s usually not their hands — it’s their timing.
Here are three simple ways to stay ready and hit with confidence against any pitcher.
Watch It in Action:
Why This Matters
- 💥 Great hitters don’t just have fast swings — they have early rhythm.
- ⚾️ Most players wait too long to load and never get fully ready before the pitch arrives.
- 🧠 Timing starts from the legs and hands, not from the upper body.
- 🎯 Being ready early gives hitters more time to see, adjust, and attack with confidence.
How to Practice It
Here’s how to train your timing the right way 👇
1️⃣ Get strong and ready early.
- Sit into your legs, get grounded, and set your hands before the pitcher starts moving.
- Feel tension and balance before you stride.
2️⃣ Keep your stride foot low.
- A smaller, controlled stride is easier to time.
- If your front foot lands late, your swing will always be late.
3️⃣ Train to hit when you’re late.
- Practice driving the ball deep in the zone instead of reaching out front.
- Build a swing that still works even when you’re not perfectly timed.
💡 Coaching Cue: Think “ready sooner, swing later.” Being early means you can adjust — being late means you’re guessing.
